Five apps compared for social imports,
organization, meal planning, and price.

Our recommendation

Honeydew is our pick for accurate TikTok and Instagram recipe imports, native iPhone integrations, and family teamwork. It is also on Android, connects with Claude and ChatGPT, and keeps shared recipe libraries, meal plans, and shopping lists in sync.

You saved the Reel because you wanted to make it. A week later, the ingredients are in a caption, the method is in the video, and the screenshot you took is somewhere in your camera roll. The right recipe app brings those pieces into a cookbook you can use.

This comparison focuses on **saving recipes from TikTok and Instagram**, including the screenshots and website links that often accompany them. We compare five apps on the import workflow, organization, cooking tools, planning, platform support, and the cost of keeping a growing collection.

Who wrote this comparison

I’m Chris Habib, co-founder of Honeydew. We make one of the apps below. This is an editorial comparison of documented features and published prices, checked November 4, 2026. We have not run a controlled import-accuracy test across these five apps. The recommendations reflect the different jobs each app is built to do.

## The best apps at a glance

All five document importing from TikTok and Instagram. This comparison focuses on what sets them apart: the importing experience, device integrations, and how your saved recipes connect to planning, shopping, and the people you cook with.

## Honeydew

Best for accurate video imports, family teamwork, and AI-assisted planning

Honeydew combines accurate video recipe imports with a native iPhone experience, an Android app, and a shared cooking routine for the whole family. Save the recipe where you find it, bring your favorite AI assistant into the planning, and keep everyone working from the same recipe library, meal plan, and shopping list.

### Accurate video imports, from the caption to the cooking steps

Video import accuracy is one of Honeydew’s core strengths. Share a TikTok or Instagram post to Honeydew, or paste its link, to turn the recipe into editable ingredients and instructions. Honeydew processes captions, on-screen text, and spoken directions, helping capture details that are spread across the video. It also imports websites, YouTube videos, screenshots, cookbook photos, and recipe text.

Our [TikTok guide](https://honeydewcook.com/support/en/first-steps-ios/save-from-tiktok) explains how Honeydew processes captions, on-screen text, and spoken directions. For Instagram, the [sharing guide](https://honeydewcook.com/support/en/first-steps-ios/save-from-instagram) covers both Reels and photo posts. You can keep the creator’s source attached to the saved recipe and return to it later.

### A cookbook you can search

Find a saved recipe by name or ingredient, organize recipes into cookbooks, and keep your own notes. Your recipe collection becomes useful beyond the day you first saved it.

### Recipes that fit your table

Adjust servings, switch units, or use AI Edit to request an ingredient change. Review the edited recipe and save the version you want to cook.

### A shared family kitchen

Recipe libraries, meal plans, and shopping lists sync across the family, so saving, planning, and shopping can be shared between different people.

### Built for your iPhone

A native iOS app with Spotlight search, home-screen widgets, share-sheet imports, and offline recipe access. Honeydew is also available on Android.

### Plan and manage Honeydew with Claude or ChatGPT

Honeydew is listed in the **Claude and ChatGPT app/plugin directories**, so you can connect it to the AI assistant you already use. Through the [Honeydew integration](https://honeydewcook.com/mcp), your agent can search your saved recipe library, help choose meals, build or update meal plans, and manage shopping lists. The result goes back into Honeydew, ready for the family to use.

For example, ask your connected assistant: “Find three dinners from my saved recipes, put them in this week’s meal plan, and add the ingredients to our shopping list.” You can plan through a conversation while Honeydew keeps the recipes, plan, and list together.

### One person saves. Another plans. Someone else shops.

Family syncing is about sharing the work as well as the recipes. One person can add a dinner they found on Instagram to the shared library, another can put it on Thursday’s meal plan, and a third can shop from the synced grocery list. Everyone works from the same collection and plan, without copying recipes into group chats or rebuilding a separate shopping list.

On iPhone, the [1.8.5 release](https://honeydewcook.com/guides/honeydew-1-8-5) added imports from 12 recipe apps. That gives an existing collection a route into Honeydew alongside new social saves. Use the guided importer for the app you are moving from.

![Flavorish app icon](https://honeydewcook.com/guides/best-recipe-apps/icons/flavorish.jpg)

## Flavorish

Best for a cookbook you can also open in a browser

Flavorish suits someone who saves recipes on a phone but plans meals on a computer. It supports sharing from TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, plus importing images and text.

After saving, recipes can go into collections, meal plans, and shared grocery lists organized by aisle or recipe. Its browser access is the clearest reason to consider it for a routine that spans several devices.

**What to check:** unlimited free website imports do not mean unlimited social imports. Basic includes five social imports; Premium adds unlimited social and image imports.

Platforms

iOS, Android, web

Price checked

Basic is free. Premium: $4.99/month.

**Choose Flavorish if:** web access is central to your cooking routine.

![Pestle app icon](https://honeydewcook.com/guides/best-recipe-apps/icons/pestle.jpg)

## Pestle

Best for guided cooking across Apple devices

Pestle accepts TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube recipes through its sharing workflow. The appeal is the cooking experience that follows: step-by-step guidance, hands-free controls, timers, and quick reminders of ingredient quantities.

You can save on an iPhone and cook on an iPad, with Handoff and device syncing. SharePlay synchronizes recipe steps when cooking together over FaceTime. Pro adds household sharing, meal planning, and photo/PDF imports alongside unlimited recipes.

**What to check:** the free cookbook holds 15 recipes, while planning and household features are part of Pro. Pestle is focused on Apple devices, so a household with Android phones should account for that.

Platforms

iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch

Price checked

Free tier; Pro listed at $24.99/year.

**Choose Pestle if:** your priority is following recipes comfortably in an Apple kitchen.

![Plan to Eat app icon](https://honeydewcook.com/guides/best-recipe-apps/icons/plan-to-eat.jpg)

## Plan to Eat

Best for people who plan their week around a calendar

Plan to Eat is a good fit when collecting recipes serves a deliberate weekly plan. Its help center documents TikTok and Instagram imports, plus photos, website links, and pasted recipe text.

The calendar lets you choose meals for the dates you need and reuse plans. Adding recipes populates an organized shopping list, which you can refine with household extras. It is a useful approach for someone who enjoys choosing the meals and wants help with the list work.

**What to check:** there is a 14-day trial, rather than a permanent free plan. Where you subscribe affects the annual price: the official pricing page lists $49 on the web and $54.99 through Apple.

Platforms

iOS, Android, web

Price checked

$5.95/month or $49/year on the web.

**Choose Plan to Eat if:** a flexible calendar and automatic shopping list are your main reasons to save recipes.

![Recipe Keeper app icon](https://honeydewcook.com/guides/best-recipe-apps/icons/recipe-keeper.jpg)

## Recipe Keeper

Best for combining social saves with a family recipe archive

Recipe Keeper combines Instagram and TikTok imports with scanning from cookbooks, handwritten cards, photos, and PDFs. It is worth considering when social recipes are only one part of a much older collection.

Recipes can be searched, edited, scaled, and added to meal plans or shopping lists. Its distinctive extra is printable cookbook creation: arrange recipes into chapters, choose layouts, and produce a PDF to share or print.

**What to check:** it offers mobile and desktop apps. Check the upgrade offer for each platform you plan to use; this comparison does not assume one advertised price covers every device.

Platforms

iOS, Android, Windows, Mac

Price checked

Free to try; see your platform’s store.

**Choose Recipe Keeper if:** preserving paper recipes and printing a cookbook are priorities.

**Official source:** [Imports, scanning, planning, and printable cookbooks](https://recipekeeperonline.com/).

## What to look for beyond “imports from TikTok”

Start with the kind of recipe you actually save. A photo of an ingredient list, a Reel with instructions in its caption, and a video where the creator speaks the method are different inputs. A platform logo alone does not explain how an app handles each one.

* **Readable recipe details.** Look for ingredients with quantities, an ordered method, and serving information, rather than a collection of bookmarks alone.
* **A way to find it next week.** Search and organization matter once your cookbook contains more than a handful of saves.
* **The next step in your routine.** Decide whether you want a saved recipe, a shared cookbook, a meal plan, or a shopping list.
* **A clear free allowance.** Check whether the limit applies to stored recipes, social imports, or both.
* **Your household’s devices.** Pick the platforms you use today, including a browser if that is where you plan meals.

Try a recipe you know before moving your whole collection. Use the creator’s original post as the reference, and check that the saved format is comfortable to read and cook from. For a broader comparison covering traditional website clippers and self-hosted options, see our [best recipe apps guide](https://honeydewcook.com/guides/best-recipe-apps).

## How to save a TikTok or Instagram recipe in Honeydew

1. **Open the recipe post.** Use the TikTok video, Instagram Reel, or photo post containing the recipe.
2. **Open the phone’s share sheet.** Tap the share icon, then use “Share to” or “More” if needed to see your installed apps.
3. **Select Honeydew.** If it is easier, copy the post’s link and paste it into Honeydew’s importer instead.
4. **Review and save the recipe.** Read the ingredients and instructions, add any personal notes, and keep it in your cookbook.
5. **Give the recipe a place in your week.** Choose a day in the meal planner, set your servings, and add the ingredients to your grocery list.

The menus vary between iOS, Android, and social-app versions. Use our platform-specific instructions for [Instagram on iPhone](https://honeydewcook.com/support/en/first-steps-ios/save-from-instagram), [Instagram on Android](https://honeydewcook.com/support/en/first-steps-android/save-from-instagram), or [TikTok on Android](https://honeydewcook.com/support/en/first-steps-android/save-from-tiktok).

01 / SAVE**Keep the recipe**

Send the post to Honeydew and save its ingredients and method.

02 / PLAN**Choose your night**

Add it to a day and set the number of servings you need.

03 / SHOP**Make the list**

Add ingredients, check your pantry, and share the list with your household.

### A small plan you can actually cook

Start with three saved recipes: a pasta for Monday, a tray bake for Wednesday, and a soup for Friday. Set the number of people eating each meal, add the recipes to those days, and generate the grocery list. Check it against what is already in your kitchen before shopping.

You do not need to plan every dinner to get value from a recipe-saving app. Giving one saved Reel a date on your calendar is a useful start. Our [grocery-list guide](https://honeydewcook.com/guides/how-to-make-a-grocery-list) explains how to turn those meal choices into a practical shop.

## Which one should you choose?

**Start with Honeydew if you want accurate video imports, family collaboration, and planning with your favorite AI assistant.** Its native iOS integrations make saved recipes easy to reach on iPhone, while Android support and synced libraries, meal plans, and shopping lists let the whole family share the work.

Choose Flavorish when browser access is essential. Look at Pestle when you want guided cooking across Apple devices. Put Plan to Eat on your shortlist when the calendar comes first, and Recipe Keeper when a printable family cookbook is part of the goal.

Before subscribing, save one recipe you know well and take it through the part of the routine you care about: finding it again, changing servings, cooking from the instructions, or making a grocery list. That tells you more about fit than a long feature checklist alone.

## Questions about saving social recipes

### What is the best app to save recipes from TikTok and Instagram?

Our pick is Honeydew for people who want social recipes, screenshots, and website recipes in one cookbook, with meal planning and grocery lists on iPhone and Android. The other apps in this comparison suit different priorities, including web access, Apple cooking tools, and printable cookbooks.

### Can I save recipe screenshots as well as links?

Yes. Honeydew accepts recipe screenshots from your photo library. Open the image, share it to Honeydew, and save the extracted recipe. Use a screenshot that includes readable recipe text. See the instructions for [iPhone](https://honeydewcook.com/support/en/first-steps-ios/save-from-screenshots) or [Android](https://honeydewcook.com/support/en/first-steps-android/save-from-screenshots).

### Is saving a post in Instagram the same as saving a recipe?

Saving a post gives you a way to return to that post. A recipe app can turn the content into a recipe you can organize and use for cooking. That is the difference to look for when choosing an app: what you can do with the recipe once it is saved.

### Can saved recipes become a grocery list?

Yes. In Honeydew, you can use saved recipes in your meal plan and generate a grocery list for the meals you choose. Set your servings first and check what you already have at home. Our [meal-planning guide](https://honeydewcook.com/support/en/using-the-app/meal-planning) covers the steps.

### Are these apps free?

Several offer limited free access, but the allowances differ. Honeydew limits free saves, Flavorish lists five free social imports, and Pestle’s free cookbook holds 15 recipes. Plan to Eat offers a trial. Check each app review and the current offer in the app before subscribing.

## How we chose these apps

We selected five apps whose official pages document TikTok and Instagram imports, then compared platform support, the published free or trial offer, and the tools available after saving. Sources were checked on November 4, 2026 and are linked beside the relevant claims.

“Best for” labels are our editorial recommendations, not benchmark scores. Product screens illustrate Honeydew’s interface. We have not timed these apps against one another or assigned accuracy percentages. We will update the comparison when documented features or pricing change.
