Save from screenshots

Last updated: 2026-02-06

Have a recipe saved as a screenshot on your phone? Honeydew can extract the full recipe -- ingredients, steps, and all -- straight from the image. Just share the screenshot to Honeydew and the AI does the rest.

How to save a recipe from a screenshot

1
Open your photo gallery

Navigate to the screenshot in your device's gallery app (Google Photos, Samsung Gallery, or whichever gallery app you use).

2
Tap the share button

With the screenshot open, tap the share icon to bring up the Android share sheet.

3
Select Honeydew

Choose Honeydew from the list of apps in the share sheet. If you've pinned Honeydew, it will be right at the top.

4
Let Honeydew process the image

Honeydew's AI will analyze the screenshot, identify the recipe content, and extract the title, ingredients, and steps automatically.

5
Review and save

Check the extracted recipe to make sure everything looks right, then save it to your collection.

Tips for best results

  • Make sure the text in the screenshot is clear and readable. Blurry or low-resolution images may produce less accurate results.
  • If a recipe spans multiple screenshots, share them one at a time. You can combine the results manually in the app.
  • Cropping the screenshot to show only the recipe content can help the AI focus on the right information.

This feature works great for recipes from cookbooks, handwritten notes, or anything else you've photographed. If it has recipe content in the image, Honeydew can read it.
