MCP Server

Bring the recipes you have saved in Honeydew Cook into Claude and other AI assistants. Ask about your own recipes in plain language. The server is read-only and scoped to your own account.

Before you start

You need a Honeydew Cook account with saved recipes, and an AI client that supports custom MCP connectors, such as Claude. Sign in with the same provider you use in the app: Apple, Google, or Email.

Overview

The Honeydew MCP server lets an AI assistant read the recipes, folders, and tags in your own Honeydew Cook account. It can search and read your recipes, but it can never create, edit, or delete anything, and it cannot see anyone else's data.

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is a standard way for AI assistants to connect to outside data sources. Once you connect the Honeydew server, your assistant can answer questions using the recipes you have already saved.

Before you start

Make sure you have the following ready:

  • A Honeydew Cook account with recipes saved.
  • An AI client that supports custom MCP connectors, such as Claude.
  • The same sign-in provider you use in the app. Apple, Google, and Email are separate account types.

Set up the connector

In Claude, connect the Honeydew MCP server in a few steps. Other AI clients follow a similar flow when adding a custom connector.

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector.
  2. Enter the server URL: https://mcp.honeydewcook.app/mcp
  3. Click Connect, then sign in with Apple, Google, or Email using the same account you use in the Honeydew Cook app.
  4. Approve the read-only access. The Honeydew tools are ready to use.
Tip

Use the same sign-in provider you use in the app. Each provider is a separate account, so signing in a different way will look like an empty account.

What it can do

Once connected, your assistant has access to the following tools:

ToolWhat it returns
Search recipesBy text, tags, and favorites.
Get recipe detailFull ingredients, steps, notes, and nutrition.
List recent recipesYour most recently saved recipes.
List and search foldersYour recipe collections.

  • "Pull up the full recipe for my creamy carbonara, ingredients and steps."
  • "What did I save recently?"
  • "What folders do I have, and which tags do I use most?"
  • "From my saved recipes, what can I make in under 20 minutes?"

Privacy and control

  • The server is read-only and scoped to your own recipes.
  • We do not store your recipe content. It is fetched live when you ask.
  • Your sign-in token is encrypted and used only to read your data on your behalf.
  • You can disconnect anytime in your AI client's connector settings.

Troubleshooting

  • No recipes returned? Sign in with the same provider you use in the app. Apple, Google, and email are separate account types. Also make sure you have recipes saved.
  • Wrong account? Remove and re-add the connector, then sign in with the correct provider.
  • Permissions or expired-session error? Disconnect and reconnect to refresh authorization.
  • Still stuck? Email admin@honeydewcook.com.
