How to add notes to a recipe

Last updated: 2026-02-06

Honeydew lets you add personal notes to any recipe. Whether you want to jot down a substitution that worked well, a cooking tip you discovered, or a reminder for next time, notes keep all of your insights right alongside the recipe itself.

Adding a note

1
Open the recipe

Navigate to the recipe you want to annotate and tap to open it.

2
Tap the notes section

Scroll to the notes section of the recipe. Tap on it to open the text editor.

3
Type your note

Write whatever you'd like to remember -- ingredient swaps, cooking adjustments, serving suggestions, or anything else.

4
Save

Tap Save or tap outside the notes area. Your note is now attached to the recipe.

Things to know about notes

  • Notes are private -- only you can see them. They are not shared when you share a recipe with someone else.
  • You can edit or delete your notes at any time by tapping the notes section again.
  • Notes sync across all your devices, so anything you write on your phone will also appear on your tablet or the web app.

Try adding a quick note after you cook a recipe for the first time. Small details like "reduce salt by half" or "bake 5 minutes longer" can make a big difference the next time around.
