The app keeps crashing

Last updated: 2026-02-06

We're sorry Honeydew isn't working as expected. Crashes can happen for a variety of reasons, but the good news is that most are easy to fix. Work through the steps below to get things back on track.

Troubleshooting steps

1
Update to the latest version

Open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) and check for a Honeydew update. We regularly release fixes for known issues, and updating often resolves crashes immediately.

2
Restart your phone

A restart clears temporary memory and processes that may be interfering with the app. Power your device off completely, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on.

3
Clear the app cache

On Android, go to Settings > Apps > Honeydew > Storage and tap "Clear Cache." On iOS, offloading and reinstalling the app achieves the same result. This removes temporary files that may be corrupted without deleting your account data.

4
Check your storage space

If your device is nearly out of storage, apps can behave unpredictably. Go to your device's storage settings and free up space if you're running low.

5
Reinstall the app

If none of the above helps, delete Honeydew and install it fresh from the App Store or Google Play Store. Your recipes and account data are stored in the cloud, so nothing will be lost -- just log back in after reinstalling.

After reinstalling, make sure you log in with the same account you used before. All your recipes, cookbooks, and meal plans will sync right back.

Still crashing?

If Honeydew continues to crash after trying all the steps above, please contact us at support@honeydewcook.com. Include your device model (e.g., iPhone 14, Pixel 8), operating system version, and the Honeydew app version so we can investigate the issue. A brief description of when the crash happens (e.g., on launch, when saving a recipe, when opening a specific cookbook) is incredibly helpful.
