I get an error when saving a recipe

Last updated: 2026-02-06

If you see an error when trying to save a recipe to Honeydew, don't worry -- it's usually something straightforward. Here are the most common causes and what you can do about each one.

Common causes

  • No internet connection -- Honeydew needs an active connection to process and save recipes.
  • Unsupported format -- Some websites or apps structure their recipe content in ways Honeydew can't yet parse.
  • Temporary server issue -- Occasionally our servers may be under heavy load or undergoing maintenance.

Steps to fix it

1
Check your internet connection

Make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data. Try opening a webpage in your browser to confirm your connection is working.

2
Try again after a moment

If the error was caused by a temporary server issue, waiting a minute and trying again will often do the trick.

3
Try a different sharing method

If sharing directly from an app doesn't work, try copying the recipe link and pasting it into Honeydew's import screen instead. Sometimes this bypasses formatting issues with certain apps.

4
Update the app

Make sure you're running the latest version of Honeydew. We frequently add support for new recipe sources and fix import issues in updates.

Some recipe sources may not be supported yet. If a particular website or platform consistently fails, let us know -- we're always expanding the list of sources Honeydew can import from.

Still seeing an error?

If the problem persists, please email us at support@honeydewcook.com with the URL or source you're trying to save from, along with a screenshot of the error if possible. This helps us identify exactly what's going wrong and often leads to a fix in a future update.
